Who we are

The All-America Concert Band was founded in Sioux City, Iowa, in 1990 with a mission to bring high-quality concert band performances to the local community. Comprised of talented local musicians, both professional and amateur, the band quickly became a cherished part of the cultural fabric of Sioux City. Under the direction of founder and long-time conductor Mike Hogan, the band grew in both size and reputation, performing a wide variety of music ranging from classical compositions and patriotic anthems to contemporary works and popular film scores.  


In 2023, Dr. Christopher Brandt joined the All-America Concert Band as its new Music Director. With a passion for music education and extensive experience in conducting, Dr. Brandt brings fresh energy and a renewed vision for the ensemble’s future. Under his leadership, the band continues to explore diverse and engaging repertoires while maintaining its tradition of musical excellence. Dr. Brandt’s focus on community engagement and musical outreach has already made a positive impact, helping to further the band’s mission of fostering a love for live music in Sioux City.


The All-America Concert Band performs throughout the year, with highlights including the Halloween Trunk or Treat Spooktacular and our Holiday themed December Concert, "Sounds of the Season".  The ensemble’s dedication to enriching the cultural life of the region and promoting music education has made it a vital part of Sioux City’s arts scene.
